A long long long long time ago back in October of 2019 after finishing up the recordings of my 2nd album "I UR BOY" I had a bunch of songs left over that I really loved but had a different vibe from what I was going for on that record. As fate would have it I happened to be in talks with a bucket-list producer of mine Gordon Raphael whom I knew from his work with The Strokes. We exchanged a few friendly video chats and made a plan to take the four best songs and work on them together. I would record the majority of the songs at my home studio in Vancouver then fly over to Berlin where Gordon would have them mixed and we could collaborate on the finishing touches. The result is something I'm very proud of: Quit Your Job! Is a collection of music about love, loss, sleep deprivation, economic collapse, fever dreams, karma, lust, and more!
lyrics
Friday brings me sorrow working from eleven to five
I would fake my death tomorrow just to get out of this terrible life
If we had food and shelter no need for this bureaucracy
So you should skip your shift on saturday and spend a couple hours with me
With me
Time is not on our side
If you ask me to quit I’ll surely listen
Now I’m kissing for a living
Spending every second with you
With me
Don’t worry about money honey you can have my loving for free
With you
I would quit my job today if I could spend another hour with you
I don’t like the feeling doing what i don't wanna do
There must be some solution cuz you’re all I look forward to
Is you
Time is not on our side
If you ask me to quit that’s what i’m choosing
Now I’m cruising for a bruising
Cuz I’m
Spending every second with you
With me
Don’t worry about money we already screwed the economy
With you
Quit my job today if I could spend another hour with
You think you got it oh you think you got it
Words put your number in my wallet
Call me up and I’ll be yours
Quit my job today if I could spend another hour with you
With me
Why waste time with money when your love’s the greatest commodity
With you
The more we talk about it the more I wanna be by your side
Tonight
Quit my job forever you and I could be together for life
