Break

about

This song started off as just the main guitar lick I had laying around for years with no real direction, it wasn't until I found the chorus that a song emerged. I was on tour somewhere in Alberta and I managed to catch this excellent Canadian Indie band Weaves playing an outdoor festival one night. First time hearing them and they had this rowdy kindof country bluesie energy thing that would slow and speed up their songs in the coolest way. It's hard to explain but it stuck with me and I tried to emulate something like that when I wrote the chorus for this. The song is about being completely sleep deprived. I hate falling asleep most nights and struggle to have a consistent schedule. My dreams are always super vivid though so that's a plus.

lyrics

Loose your rubber skin
Sinking in sinking in sinking in
Loosely based on life
For the rest I’m missing I’m dipping til I dive

Deprivation tank
Hibernate hibernate hibernate
Try to float down stream
Toss and turn your body you’ll never kick it deep

By now
You should
Have found
They could
I lie
Awake
In time
I’ll break

Turn your brightness down
Turn around turn around turn around
Close your eyes and see
Seventy years of suffering a third of your life in relief

By now
You should
Have found
They could
I lie
Awake
In time
I’ll break

Down
The hall
Not sure
At all
Now I
Awake
In time
I’ll break

By now
You should
Have found
They could
I lie
Awake
In time
I’ll break
